| The village is located near the "Heads of
the Valleys" area of South Wales north of the market
town of Bargoed in the Rhymney Valley.
Set
in a dramatic location the scenery around the village
is absolutely stunning. Steep, green, valley hillsides
dominate the area.
Carved
by ancient glaciers there are examples of every form
of landscape to be seen around the valley. From preindustrial
to post industrial. The village has a wealth of heritage
and a very proud past.
Within
New Tredegar the most intensive development mainly
took place during the mining boom of the Late 19th
and early 20th Centuries. However some early buildings
from the pre industrial era still exist such as White
Rose Cottages located at Elliotstown Square.
The
strong 19th and early 20th Century theme still dominates
the architectural landscape of the village and the
introduction of new buildings has not detracted from
the sense of place.
